AM Radio Dust

AM Radio Dust

A new, or new to Office Naps, mix this week.

AM Radio Dust was my 2009 contribution to the annual CD mix swap over at the Waxidermy forums, the weird id of contemporary record collecting.

AM Radio Dust is a good reflection of where my tastes as a collector and music enthusiast stand.  It’s a parallel universe of sound, a lost, echo-y place of girl-groups, instrumental obscurities, haunted country singers and teen crooners, inadvertent drone and difficult-to-classify, space-age flotsam.

I did choose to re-record (320kpbs) and re-mix the original tracks, however, which suffered from some variable bit rates and generally poor mastering.  As always, nothing was cleaned up, though, no pops or clicks removed.  So here it is.

Thank you very much, I look forward every other week for your posts & the mixes are such wonderful surprises.
I am just amazed at the stuff you post. The selections are like the songs you might hear only once or twice, usually late night, on the am stations of my youth, the songs that would have been interspersed with the same lame, usually, top 40 drivel, that was pumped out 24 houirs a day back then but this was the only way you ever got to hear the good stuff, that Ventures instro or surf toon or Joe Meek production or fav girl group song unless you had the money to buy the 45.
    Ah, nostalgia

I’ve listened to this set for a couple of years now without actually knowing what most of the titles were. And now that I see them I see a few surprises…

Many thanks for this. ‘Another Man Done Gone’ knocks me out, was this done as the Collins Kids or solo? Did she record much without Larry?
